Product Description
ChinaMed Gyne Function 1 Formula 78c
This is an empirical formula that has been developed for use as the basis for treating abnormal uterine bleeding. This includes excessive menstrual blood loss (menorrhagia), bleeding between periods (metrorrhagia) and slight but continual bleeding (metrostaxis).
The common causes of long term or chronic abnormal uterine bleeding are Heat in the Blood due to Yin deficiency, Blood stasis and Spleen Qi deficiency. Due to the excessive blood loss, patients generally also have Blood deficiency, which may, in turn, worsen the condition. Thus, a primary approach to treatment involves both tonification (of the Yin and Blood) as well as astringing the Blood to stop bleeding.
In this formula the following herbs are used in order to astringe the Blood and stop bleeding: Cephalanopsis herb (xiao ji); Artemisia leaf (ai ye) and Scutellaria root (huang qin). The remaining herbs nourish the Blood and the Yin and are mostly cooling in nature.
As this formula does not address the pattern of Qi deficiency, it may be necessary to combine it with a suitable Qi tonifying formula, as listed below, under ‘Combinations’.
COMBINATIONS

+ ENERGY TONIC Formula
