What are the ingredients in Voluntastrols?

Voluntastrols contain specific botanical extracts from:

•  Theobroma cacao (Cacao)

•  Citrus bioflavonoids (extracted from Citrus reticulata, Citrus aurantiifolia, Citrus sinensis, Citrus limon)

•  Chamomila matricaria (German chamomile)

These are blended together to provide a unique and powerful formula.  .

What is the Recommended Dosage?

The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules taken 30 minutes before breakfast or, depending on your health concern, as recommended by your healthcare practitioner.

I eat a healthy organic diet, can’t I just get these extracts from the food I eat?

We specifically extract at a molecular level based on our in-house lab work. Typically a super-critical fluid is used to extract the exact molecules we require.

​

These molecules form part of the plants own immune system. They are produced through the secondary plant metabolite (SPM) pathway. They can be specifically elicited by a single fungal protease, or a viral or bacterial attack to the plant. This triggers an immune response, dramatically increasing the level of SPM. When agrochemicals are used, there is no elicitation. (It is important to note that ‘organic’ does not necessarily mean the absence of a fungicide, as there are certain fungicides licensed for organic use.)

In addition, due to selected breeding programs, GM development, and the use of chemical or mechanical pest control, and monoculture production techniques, these levels of secondary plant metabolites are significantly reduced (often not produced) in modern varieties.

The taste characteristics of SPM are often seen as undesirable because they taint the taste (including bitterness) and many processes have been developed to specifically remove them from our food, such as ion exchange resins or membrane separation technologies, or simply bred out. This has all led to a dramatic reduction of secondary plant metabolites in the food (organic or otherwise) that we consume.

In summary, it is very difficult to find varieties that are grown in a way, and produced or processed commercially, that are genetically diverse and that contain these characteristics.  One cannot simply turn up to the supermarket and obtain an orange (even an organic one) that would contain the same characteristics as the extracts contained in our capsules.

I take prescription medications – can I take Voluntastrols as well?

We are often asked if Voluntastrols can be taken in conjunction with prescription medication.

Voluntastrols contain extracts from normal everyday foods that do not have contraindications. Prescription medications may have contraindications and the prescribing doctor or manufacturer should be consulted to determine if the medication is contraindicated with any of the food sources contained in Voluntastrols ie citrus (Citrus reticulata, Citrus aurantiifolia, Citrus sinensis, Citrus limon), cacao (as found in chocolate) and chamomile. If these food sources are able to be consumed whilst on the medication, then so too can Voluntastrols.

Can I take Voluntastrols if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Due to the complexity of determining otherwise, we recommend caution by pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers.

Can I take Voluntastrols if I have low or high blood pressure?

Research indicates that the botanical extracts in Voluntastrols play a role in naturally lowering blood pressure. Therefore we recommend caution and monitoring by those with low blood pressure, or by those on other high blood pressure medication.
